BMC's Malad STP 40% Complete; Seven Plants Set for 2028
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is building seven big sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Mumbai.
One of them, in Malad, is 40% done and will be ready by 2028.
The plants will help clean a lot of dirty water every day.
Some plants have special designs, like one in Dharavi that is built in multiple floors because there isn't much land.
Another in Bandra will have a garden on the roof.
The total cost of the project has gone up to Rs.
27,309.83 crore because of delays and higher taxes.
The BMC is working hard to finish these plants on time.
Malad STP is 40% complete and expected to be operational by July 2028.
Seven STPs are being constructed across Mumbai with a combined capacity of 2,464 MLD per day.
Dharavi STP features a multi-storey design due to limited land availability, discharging treated water into the Mithi River.
Bandra STP will include a rooftop garden and a viewing tower.
Project costs have increased from Rs. 25,963 crore to Rs. 27,309.83 crore due to delays and a 6% GST increase.
