Chhatarpur Schoolchildren Walk 40 Km Demanding Road, Bridge, Electricity

On India's Independence Day, some schoolchildren in a village in Madhya Pradesh walked a very long way—more than 40 kilometers—because they wanted their village to get a proper road, a bridge, and electricity.

Without these things, kids have to walk through difficult paths and cross wet, waterlogged areas just to reach school.

The walk started on the morning of August 15 and took almost the whole day.

It rained heavily while the children and villagers waited to talk to their leader, an MLA.

At one point, the leader did not arrive on time, and some people shouted slogans against him.

Later, the group was taken to a government building, where they finally met the MLA at 1:30 in the morning.

The leader promised that work on the road, bridge, and electricity would start within a few days.

After hearing that promise, everyone was happy and ended the protest.

The villagers said children should be carrying books to school instead of walking kilometers to ask for basic facilities.
