Assam Floods: Waters Recede but Recovery Challenges Remain
The floodwaters in Assam have started to recede, but many people cannot return home because their houses are damaged or filled with mud.
The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said the government is handling the situation without needing international aid.
Relief materials worth Rs 16 crore, including traditional Assamese attire and mosquito nets, have been distributed to affected districts.
The government is also planning to meet with banks to discuss special support for loans for flood-affected citizens.
