Karnataka River Floods Displace Residents Amid Heavy Rain
In Karnataka, India, a lot of rain fell in the Western Ghats mountains.
This made the Nethravathi River rise a lot, reaching 8.5 metres at a place called Bantwal.
Because the river was so high, water flooded many houses in villages like Panemangaluru and Aladkapadpu.
The flood also covered roads in Aladka, Kanchikarpete, and Kotekani, so cars couldn’t drive.
The Kumaradhara River also got higher at Uppinangady and Veeramangala, flooding nearby low spots.
The state’s disaster monitoring team is watching the rivers closely, and no one was hurt so far.
Heavy rainfall in Karnataka’s Western Ghats caused the Nethravathi River to rise to 8.5 m at Bantwal, flooding low‑lying areas.
More than 15 houses in Panemangaluru, Aladkapadpu and other villages were inundated, prompting authorities to relocate residents.
Roads in Aladka, Kanchikarpete and Kotekani were submerged, disrupting traffic.
The Kumaradhara River also swelled at Uppinangady and Veeramangala, submerging nearby low‑lying zones.
No fatalities were reported, and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Corporation is monitoring river levels.
