Uttar Pradesh Makes Attendants Mandatory in School Vehicles

The government of a big state in India called Uttar Pradesh made new rules to keep children safe when they ride to school in buses or vans.

Now, whenever a school vehicle carries children who are 12 years old or younger, there must be an adult helper in the vehicle.

This helper is called an attendant, and their job is to help children get on and off the vehicle safely.

The government also said schools must check that their drivers are good people and are healthy.

Schools have to inspect their vehicles every month to make sure things like first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency alarms are working.

They also have to make sure the vehicle's papers, like permits and insurance, are up to date.

Old and unsafe vehicles cannot be used to carry children anymore.

The transport department will do its own checks to make sure schools follow the rules.

If anyone is careless about children's safety, they will face strict punishment.
