GVMC Prepares for 2026 Elections With 18.37 Lakh Voters
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is getting ready for its 2026 elections.
About 1.84 million people can vote across 120 wards.
They will vote at 1,990 polling stations.
Officials have grouped the stations by how much extra attention and security they may need.
Election workers are being trained, and preparations include transport, strong rooms and counting centres.
Polling stations are also expected to have drinking water, toilets, electricity and ramps.

The aim is to make the election free, fair and transparent.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg directed officials to prepare for the corporation’s 2026 ordinary elections.
A total of 1,837,901 voters are eligible to vote at 1,990 polling stations across 120 wards.
Training for returning and assistant returning officers is complete; presiding and polling officers are scheduled for training on October 13 and 14.
Polling stations are classified as 91 hyper-sensitive, 313 sensitive, 393 critical and 1,193 normal.
Officials were told to provide voter facilities, coordinate transport and security, and enforce the Model Code of Conduct.
