Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a very important leader from India.

He was the Prime Minister of India three times, which is a very big job.

He also helped start the Janata Party and later led the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He was the first Prime Minister from outside the Congress party to finish a full five-year term.

He said that guns are not the answer to problems and that all religions should be respected.

He believed peace is important for development.

People gave him a special honor called the Bharat Ratna.
