Karnataka Opposition seeks cancellation of Mysuru University appointment

Big universities are places where students go to learn.

The University of Mysore, in Karnataka, gave an important job to a professor named B.K. Kempegowda.

His job is called Registrar (Evaluation), which means he looks after exam results.

A leader in the state's opposition, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, says the professor should not have gotten this job.

He says the university did not follow its own rules when choosing him.

He thinks the job should have gone to a professor already working at the University of Mysore, because Kempegowda works at a different college in Nanjangud.

The leader also says people complained about Kempegowda in his old job, including claims of bad behaviour and misuse of money meant for some communities.

Narayanaswamy has asked the government to check all the facts carefully.

He says university jobs should be given to honest, qualified, and experienced people.
