Hasina vows December return to Bangladesh, son warns of extremism

Sheikh Hasina used to be the leader of a country called Bangladesh, but she had to leave after big student protests.

About two years later, she talked to reporters for the first time, speaking by phone from India.

She told them she wants to go back to Bangladesh in December, even though she might be arrested.

Hasina said she is not afraid because she has survived many dangerous situations in her life.

Her son, Sajeeb Wazed, also spoke and said he is very worried about Bangladesh.

He said dangerous groups are becoming more active and bad people are being let out of prison.

He warned that Bangladesh could become like Pakistan, which would be bad for India too.

Hasina said the people of Bangladesh deserve safety, fairness, and freedom.

She asked for free speech and fair courts in her country.

She says she is returning because the people need her.
