Supreme Court Grants Madhya Pradesh Land for Muslim Friday Prayers
The Supreme Court of India said that Muslims can pray at a special place next to a historic temple in Madhya Pradesh.
The court picked a piece of land called Khasra No.
596 and said prayers can happen from 1 pm to 3 pm on Fridays.
The High Court had earlier said the temple is for Hindus.
The Supreme Court wants to let Muslims pray there too.
The state will set up the place and can choose another spot if both sides agree.
Supreme Court directed Madhya Pradesh to provide land adjacent to the disputed Bhojshala‑Kamal Maula complex for Muslim Friday prayers.
The order specifies the land (Khasra No. 596) and allows prayers from 1 pm to 3 pm on Fridays.
The decision follows a High Court ruling that the 11th‑century site is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
The Supreme Court clarified that the state and Muslim community may seek another site by mutual consent.
Muslim community leaders and district officials have chosen Survey No. 612 for the prayers after the court’s permission.
