Mahakaleshwar Adorned as Lord Ganesha During Ujjain Bhasma Aarti

On Ganesh Chaturthi, a special ceremony took place at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain.

The temple doors opened at 4 a.m.

for the Bhasma Aarti.

Priests bathed Lord Mahakaleshwar with water and Panchamrit.

Panchamrit was made with milk, curd, ghee, sugar and fruit juices.

The deity was decorated to look like Lord Ganesha.

Silver ornaments, flowers and other sacred decorations were used.

Devotees watched the rituals and offered fruits and sweets.

The Maha Nirvani Akhada supplied the sacred ash used in the ceremony.
