Gurgaon Forms Area Sabhas for Citizen Participation
The city of Gurgaon has created 117 new groups called Area Sabhas to help people have a say in how their city is run.
These groups are in 36 different areas of the city.
Each group includes all the voters in that area, and a city worker helps organize the group.
However, some groups of residents, called RWAs, are upset because they were not included in this new system.
They think it's important that they should have been part of it.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) formed 117 Area Sabhas across 36 wards on January 20.
Each ward was divided into 3-4 Area Sabhas based on polling booths and voter numbers.
All registered voters in an area are members of their respective Area Sabha.
A municipal corporation employee is appointed as Member Secretary for each Sabha.
Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) expressed concerns over being excluded from the process.
