Indiramma Canteens Expand in Hyderabad for Hunger-Free City
The government in Hyderabad has opened new Indiramma Canteens in three places to help people who don't have enough money for food.
These canteens give breakfast for just 5 rupees and lunch for 5 rupees.
The real cost is much higher, but the government pays most of it so that poor people can eat well.
The canteens are run by a charity and give food to workers, drivers, and others who need help.
The government plans to open more canteens in other places too.
People who eat at these canteens can save about 3,000 rupees every month.
The leaders who started these canteens also ate there and talked to the people to see how they are doing.
Indiramma Canteens were inaugurated at Sundarayya Park, Bagh Lingampally, and Kawadiguda in Hyderabad.
The canteens offer breakfast for Rs 5 and midday meals for Rs 5, subsidized by the GHMC.
The actual cost of each breakfast is Rs 19, and a meal costs Rs 29.83, with GHMC contributing Rs 14 per breakfast and Rs 24.83 per meal.
The canteens aim to provide affordable, nutritious meals to the poor, daily-wage earners, laborers, auto drivers, and lower-income groups.
The government plans to expand the canteens to more locations based on public and elected representatives' suggestions.
