Bhopal Malayalee Association Celebrates Onam With Traditional Cultural Events
People in Bhopal celebrated the Onam festival together.
The United Malayalee Association and Malayalam Mission organized the event.
It was held at HEMA School on Sunday.
Musicians played Chenda Melam, and girls carried Thalappoli during a traditional welcome for King Mahabali.
People also performed the Thiruvathira dance.
Young teams competed in tug-of-war and made colorful flower designs called athappookalam.
Anirudh KV shared stories about travelling across India despite having cerebral palsy.
Students who did well in Classes 10 and 12 received prizes and awards.
The United Malayalee Association and Malayalam Mission held Onam 2026 celebrations at HEMA School in Bhopal on Sunday.
The event opened with a Chenda Melam performance, Thalappoli procession and Thiruvathira dance welcoming King Mahabali.
Activities included youth tug-of-war, athappookalam floral-rangoli competition, cultural performances, a skit and group song.
Traveller Anirudh KV, who has cerebral palsy, spoke about travelling across India to motivate young people.
Meritorious Class 10 and 12 students received cash prizes and awards.
