Sajjanar flags off Mahankali Ghatam procession in Old City

In the city of Hyderabad, people celebrate an old festival called Bonalu.

During this festival, they carry decorated pots called Ghatams to a temple.

A very special temple for this celebration is the Sri Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Temple.

The city's top police officer, Mr. Sajjanar, started the big procession by flagging it off.

Before that, he prayed inside the temple to Goddess Mahankali.

He remembered how the goddess protected the city from sickness and floods long ago.

Because many people join the procession, the police made a big safety plan.

They used smart cameras that can think like computers, flying drones, and more cameras.

Thousands of police officers worked in two shifts to keep everyone safe.
