Haryana Sports Officials Deny Responsibility for Basketball Tragedy

Two young basketball players died when the iron poles holding the basketball hoops they were practicing under collapsed.

The Haryana sports department says it's not responsible for the courts where the accidents happened.

The courts are said to be under the control of the panchayat department and a government school.

The sports minister says there will be a thorough investigation and those found guilty will be punished.

The families of the victims say the courts were not properly maintained and that officials should be held accountable.

The state government has suspended a sports officer and made some changes in the sports department.
