India to Host Inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027
India will host a new women’s cricket tournament in 2027.
The event is called the Women’s Champions Trophy.
It was originally supposed to happen in Sri Lanka.
The International Cricket Council moved it to India after considering other hosting plans.
Games will take place in Mumbai and Vadodara.
Six national teams will play in the tournament.
Each team will play in a round-robin league.
The two best teams will reach the final on February 28.
Vadodara’s stadium was chosen because it has hosted many important cricket matches.
India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy from February 14 to 28, 2027.
The tournament was moved from Sri Lanka after the ICC reviewed proposals from India, Bangladesh and South Africa.
Matches will be played at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka will compete in the six-team event.
The teams will play a round-robin league, with the top two advancing to the February 28 final.
