Delhi BLO’s Long Day Balancing Teaching and Voter Verification
Inamul Hasan is a teacher who is also working as a booth-level officer.
His job is to help check voter records during Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision.
He spent the morning teaching and supervising an exam.
In the afternoon, he delivered notices and held hearings for voters.
Finding one voter was difficult because the listed house number could not be found.
He eventually located a relative and completed some paperwork.
Hasan has many more notices and hearings to handle.
He must also return to his teaching work and grade more than 200 exam papers.
Inamul Hasan spent his morning teaching Urdu and invigilating a three-hour examination before beginning his BLO duties.
He spent much of the afternoon trying to locate House 76 and elector Shubham Basishta, but found no such numbered house.
Hasan distributed five notices and conducted two hearings during three hours in the Sarai Kale Khan neighbourhood.
Of 519 assigned electors, 137 have received notices, while 30 notices and about 100 hearings remain.
After returning home around 6 pm, Hasan still had more than 200 examination papers to check.
