Farmers demand flood control after Sesa River devastation
Farmers in Lakhimpur district are very upset because the Sesa River flooded their fields and covered them with sand.

The sand has made it impossible for them to grow crops, and it has also damaged roads and schools.
They are asking the government to build flood protections before the next monsoon.
In another part of the state, a group called the Dibrugarh-Tinsukia District Flood and Erosion Resistance Struggle Forum is worried about riverbank erosion near a tourist camp.
They say the government needs to fix the eroded areas with special bags or tubes to prevent more damage when the next monsoon comes.
Sand deposits from the Sesa River have devastated croplands in western Lakhimpur district, making agriculture impossible.
Villagers blame the lack of flood protection measures on the left bank of the Sesa River for the damage.
