RBI Sets SGB Series VI Redemption Price at ₹15,334
The Reserve Bank of India has set the price for leaving a certain gold-linked bond early at ₹15,334 per unit.
These bonds were first sold in September 2021.
People who bought them online paid ₹4,682 per unit, while other buyers paid ₹4,732.
Because the redemption price is much higher, a ₹1 lakh online investment could be worth about ₹3.28 lakh.
This estimate does not include the interest investors received.
The bonds pay 2.5% interest every year in two payments.
Investors can leave on 7 September 2026 because five years have passed.
They can also keep the bonds until their eight-year maturity instead.
The Reserve Bank of India fixed the premature redemption price at ₹15,334 per SGB unit.
SGB 2021-22 Series VI was issued on 7 September 2021, with redemption scheduled for 7 September 2026.
Online investors paid ₹4,682 per gram after a ₹50 digital-payment discount, while other investors paid ₹4,732.
At the redemption price, an online investment of ₹1 lakh would be worth approximately ₹3.28 lakh, excluding interest.
The bonds pay 2.5% annual interest and may also be held until their original eight-year maturity.
