Bizarre Jaiswal Run-Out After Mix-Up With KL Rahul In Galle
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul are cricketers who play for India's national team.
They were batting together in an important Test match against Sri Lanka in a city called Galle.
In the 11th over, Rahul hit the ball and called for a quick run.
Jaiswal started to run, but he bumped into a Sri Lankan bowler who was diving to stop the ball.
Because of the bump, both players ended up at the same end of the pitch.
The replays showed that Rahul reached the safe end first, so the umpires decided Jaiswal was out.
Jaiswal had scored 32 runs, but he had to walk back to the pavilion.
Some people said Rahul made a mistake, while others said it was just an unlucky accident.
This was the third time Jaiswal had been run out in a Test match.
India kept playing and ended the day very strong with 288 runs for only two wickets.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was run out for 32 off 37 balls after a bizarre mix-up with KL Rahul on Day 1 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
Jaiswal collided with debutant off-spinner Keshara Nuwantha, who dived to stop the ball, leaving both batters stranded at the same end.
Replays confirmed Rahul grounded his bat first, and Prabath Jayasuriya and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella combined to complete the run-out.
Former India cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Aakash Chopra blamed Rahul, saying he should have gone back instead of completing the single.
It was Jaiswal's third Test run-out, and India finished Day 1 at 288/2 after 73 overs with Devdutt Padikkal (131*) and Rishabh Pant (27*) unbeaten.

Commentary from a fan referencing teammate KL Rahul
“Rahul had already committed. He was watching the ball and wasn’t looking at his partner at all, as to what had happened with him, and eventually, an unfortunate run‑out. A run‑out in a Test match is a bad way to get out. It was a communication breakdown. Life is not that fair sometimes.”

“It was unfortunate. There was a big mix‑up. And honestly, I felt that when KL saw Jaiswal on the floor, he should have immediately gone back, rather than still going for that single.”
