Amit Shah Plans Three-Day Siliguri Visit Focused on Border Security
Amit Shah is planning a three-day visit to Siliguri.
Siliguri is near a narrow land route that connects the rest of India with the Northeast.
The route is close to the borders of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
Shah will meet security officials to discuss how to protect the area.
He may visit the Sashastra Seema Bal headquarters and review border issues.
He will also open an exhibition explaining India’s new criminal laws.
The exhibition will use displays and performances to help people understand the laws.
Shah is expected to return to Delhi on August 22.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Siliguri from August 20 to 22, arriving at Bagdogra Airport around 7:30 p.m.
His meetings are expected to focus on the Siliguri Corridor, border security and internal security issues.
Shah is expected to visit the Sashastra Seema Bal Frontier Headquarters, identified as Kadamtala in one report and Ranidanga in another, on August 21.
He is scheduled to inaugurate a five-day exhibition on India’s new criminal laws at Kawakhali, accompanied by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
The visit follows Shah’s July review of border security, criminal-law implementation and internal administration in the region.
