Minister Highlights Jan-Dhan Yojana’s 12-Year Financial Inclusion Journey

The Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana helps people open bank accounts and use formal banking services.

Annpurna Devi said the program has completed 12 years.

More than 59 crore accounts have been opened.

Many of these accounts belong to women and families living in villages and small towns.

People have deposited more than Rs 3.1 lakh crore in these accounts.

The government says Rs 53 lakh crore has been sent directly to beneficiaries through the JAM system.

The Minister also discussed programs that protect and support women.

One such program, One Stop Centres, helps women facing violence or distress.

The scheme provides Rs 5,000 for the first child in two instalments.
