International Air Cargo Services Resume at Visakhapatnam Airport
Imagine Visakhapatnam Airport used to send special packages to other countries, but stopped when the big sickness called COVID-19 happened.
Now, after a long time, the airport is sending packages internationally again!
This is great news for people and companies in the area who make things like medicine and clothes.
Before, they had to send their packages through other cities, which took longer.
Now, they can send them straight from Visakhapatnam.
Two planes that carry people to Singapore and Abu Dhabi are already flying a lot, and soon, more planes will be dedicated just for cargo.
This will make it easier for businesses to send their products around the world and help Visakhapatnam connect better globally.
International air cargo operations have resumed at Visakhapatnam Airport since November 15, following a halt since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The resumption was announced by Civil Aviation Minister K. Ramohan Naidu at the 30th CII Partnership Summit.
Currently, two international passenger flights connect Vizag to Singapore and Abu Dhabi with high occupancy.
Dedicated cargo services are expected to commence shortly by IndiGo and Singapore Airlines.
The restoration is anticipated to significantly ease logistics for local industries, including pharmaceutical units, textile manufacturers, and those in the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone.
