Karnataka Plans Tourism Development for CRZ-Notified Beaches
Karnataka's Tourism Minister, K J George, has asked officials to study all beaches in the state where tourism is allowed under Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules.
Each beach will get its own special plan for tourism development.
The plan will look at things like roads, existing buildings, how attractive the beach is for tourists, how to protect the environment, and how to create jobs and grow the local economy.
The goal is to make sure tourism grows in a way that is good for both the environment and the people who live there.
Karnataka Tourism Minister K J George directed officials to assess all CRZ-notified beaches for tourism potential.
Each beach will have a separate Tourism Development Master Plan based on its unique characteristics.
Assessment will include road connectivity, infrastructure, tourism appeal, environmental sensitivity, and investment opportunities.
The goal is to promote sustainable and planned tourism development within CRZ regulations.
Plans aim to generate investments, create employment, and strengthen the coastal economy.

“"Karnataka’s coastline has the potential to become one of the state’s strongest drivers of tourism growth. We must promote sustainable and planned tourism development within the framework of CRZ regulations without compromising environmental conservation. If development plans are tailored to the unique character of each beach, they will generate greater investments, create employment, and significantly strengthen the coastal economy."”

“"Every beach in Karnataka has its own distinct identity and tourism potential. Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, we will prepare destination-specific development plans based on the geographical, environmental, and tourism characteristics of each beach, creating a new roadmap for sustainable coastal tourism in the state."”
