Jharkhand hunger-striking protester hospitalised as exam protest talks stall

Some people in the Indian state of Jharkhand were upset because they thought government job tests were not fair.

They said there were paper leaks and mistakes in exams run by two commissions called JPSC and JSSC.

To show how serious they were, some of them stopped eating food and drank only water.

One of these people, Rahul Kranti, had not eaten since Tuesday night.

On Friday morning, he felt very sick and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Doctors are taking care of him in the emergency room.

Reports say six or seven people were on hunger strike at a stadium in the city of Ranchi.

The protesters want the exam cancelled and a fair, independent investigation.

Talks between the protesters and the government have stopped without an agreement.

A leader named Babulal Marandi visited the hospital and told the students not to risk their lives because they have a long battle ahead.
