Farmers Protest for Sugarcane MSP in Parbhani
Farmers in Parbhani district were upset because the sugar mills did not announce the price they would pay for sugarcane.
They wanted at least Rs 3,000 for every ton of sugarcane.
So, they blocked a road to protest.
The police were there to keep things calm.
Later, a group from one of the sugar mills talked to the farmers and promised to pay the price they wanted.
After that, the farmers stopped the protest.
Farmers in Parbhani district blocked a road at Pokhrani Pati to demand a minimum support price of Rs 3,000 per ton for sugarcane.
The protest was organized by Swabhimani Kisan Sanghatan and Kisan Sabha after the sugar mills did not announce the MSP.
Heavy police presence was maintained during the protest to ensure order.
A delegation from Shri Renuka Sugars Ltd met with farmer leaders and assured the demanded MSP.
The protest was withdrawn after the assurance from the sugar mill's administrative board.
