New Town Iskcon Hosts Sri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav
The Iskcon centre in New Town is celebrating Janmashtami, a festival about the birth of Lord Krishna.
The celebration is taking place at the centre’s cow shed and temple.
On Friday, people can watch cultural performances and listen to stories about Krishna.
Priests will perform a special ceremony for Radha and Krishna.
The ceremony will happen late at night.
At midnight, visitors will get a special view of the deities to mark Krishna’s birth.
Food will then be offered, followed by prayers and devotional singing.
Saturday’s programme will remember Iskcon founder A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav is underway at the Iskcon cow shed and temple in New Town’s Action IIIE.
Friday’s programme includes cultural performances, Krishna katha and a Radha-Krishna abhishek from 10.30pm to 11.30pm.
Krishna katha will continue until midnight, when visitors will receive a special darshan marking Krishna’s birth.
Bhog, arati and kirtan will follow the midnight celebration.
Saturday’s events will honour Iskcon founder A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada with prayers, kirtan and puja offerings.
