West Bengal Launches MMSBY With Rs 5 Lakh Health Coverage
West Bengal has started a new health-insurance program called MMSBY.
It can provide cashless treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh.
The program covers many illnesses and surgeries, including knee replacements and mental-health treatment.
Existing diseases are covered from the first day.
There is no limit on how many people can be in one family.
Families earning more than Rs 8 lakh a year cannot join.
People already covered by some government health schemes also cannot join.
Each family member will receive a digital card after verification.
People can apply through an official website, a government office, a camp or a hospital helpdesk.
The West Bengal Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana with up to Rs 5 lakh in cashless health coverage.
MMSBY covers nearly 1,950 to 2,000 disease categories, including mental-health conditions, major surgeries and specialized treatments.
Families earning more than Rs 8 lakh annually or enrolled in schemes such as CGHS or WBHS are excluded.
The scheme is linked with 1,240 private and 627 government hospitals in West Bengal, as well as hospitals nationwide.
Applicants must complete verification and submit Form B with Aadhaar and ration-card details through a BDO, municipal office, camp or designated portal.
