Congress spent Rs 136 crore in five state Assembly polls

Political parties spend money when they try to win elections, and they have to tell the Election Commission how much they spent.

The Congress party just shared its spending report for elections in five places in India: Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, and Puducherry.

The total amount was Rs 136.94 crore, which is a very large sum of money.

Most of the money, Rs 96.42 crore, was given to the people running as candidates.

Some money was used for ads on TV, newspapers, and other media, costing Rs 11.95 crore.

A lot was also spent on travel for famous party leaders who come to give speeches, called star campaigners.

Small amounts were used for public meetings, processions, and online campaigns.

The report was given to the Election Commission, which checks these things.

Another big party, the BJP, has not published its report yet.
