India and Germany sign mine-closure pact

India and Germany signed an agreement to work together on closing mines in a scientific way.

This means they will use special methods to close mines that are good for the environment and create new opportunities for people living nearby.

India has already closed 42 mines this way and plans to close 147 more in the next few years.

They also made a big fund of $5 billion to help with this.

The government released a report called AAROH that shows how they are doing this.

They are also using special plants to turn mine water into drinking water and creating new jobs.
