Siemens, Zydus, MRF, Insecticides India report lower Q1 net profits
Q1 Results · thehansindia.com

Every three months, companies tell everyone how much money they made.

Four big Indian companies did this recently, and all of them made less profit than they did a year ago.

Profit is the money left over after a company pays for everything it needs.

Insecticides India, a company that helps farmers, sold less because the rains did not come as expected.

Siemens, a company that makes electrical equipment, earned less even though it sold more, because materials cost more and currency values changed.

Zydus Lifesciences, a medicine company, kept less profit because its expenses went up.

MRF, a tyre company, also made a bit less because raw materials were expensive.

When costs go up or sales go down, it is harder for companies to keep as much profit.
