Codava Council Celebrates 31st Kakkada Padnett on Aug 2
The Codava people are having a big party called the Kakkada Padnett on August 2.
It is the 31st time they do this, so it has been happening for 30 years.
The party is in a place called Capitol Village in the town of Madikeri, in the state of Karnataka.
A famous journalist named Deepak Thimmaiah will be the special guest.
People are asked to wear their traditional clothes and remember how their ancestors loved the river and the forest.
Codava National Council will hold its 31st Annual Public Kakkada Padnett on Sunday, August 2, 2024, at Capitol Village in Madikeri.
The event celebrates the Codava community’s folkloric and agrarian tradition, emphasizing spiritual ties to the River Cauvery, Devakads, and warrior heritage.
Senior journalist Deepak Thimmaiah, former media advisor to Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, will serve as Guest of Honour.
CNC leaders encourage community members to attend in traditional Codava attire.
The gathering marks 30 years of public cultural observance by the Codava people.
