India examines Bangladesh fuel request amid acute energy crisis
Bangladesh is a neighboring country that is going through a very serious energy shortage.
It does not have enough fuel to keep its trucks, generators and services running.
Bangladesh asked India to send more fuel, such as diesel.
India said it will carefully look at the request.
India must make sure it has enough fuel for its own people first.
India also invited Bangladesh's Prime Minister for a friendly visit.
The Prime Minister is also invited to a big meeting called the BRICS summit.
The summit will be held in New Delhi, India's capital, on September 12 and 13.
Many world leaders will come to talk about big global problems.
BRICS is a group of 11 major growing economies that represent a large share of the world's people.
India said on Friday it is examining Bangladesh's request for additional petroleum products as Bangladesh faces an acute energy crisis.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the request will be weighed against India's own requirements, refining capacity and diesel availability.
India has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for a bilateral visit and to attend the outreach session of the BRICS summit.
India, as current BRICS chair, is hosting the summit in New Delhi on September 12-13, expected to address challenges including the economic consequences of the West Asia crisis.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin are among leaders expected to attend the summit.
