Missing CCTV, OMR Records Deepen Karnataka Recruitment Probe
Investigators are checking whether Karnataka’s veterinary officer recruitment examination was handled properly.
They found that six months of CCTV recordings from the secure room were missing or unavailable.
That room held the exam question papers and answer sheets.
A hard disk containing scanned answer sheets was also reported missing.
These missing records make it harder to check what happened to the exam materials.
The investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department, or CID.
The CID has questioned officials and is contacting candidates who passed the exam.
It has also taken some answer sheets and CCTV equipment for testing.
Investigators are trying to determine whether the missing records were accidental or linked to alleged exam irregularities.
CCTV footage from the KPSC strong room covering the past six months was reportedly unavailable during an inspection.
The strong room stored veterinary officer examination question papers and OMR sheets under required round-the-clock surveillance.
Investigators are also examining the reported disappearance of a hard disk containing scanned OMR-sheet copies.
The CID has issued notices to former KPSC chairman Shivashankarappa, member Shantha Hosamani, officials and staff, and IAS officer Jnanendra Kumar.
Notices were issued to 329 successful candidates, while selected candidates’ OMR copies and CCTV DVRs from three centres were seized for analysis.
