Modi Tops Trump’s G20 Meeting List as Trade Deal Nears

US Ambassador Sergio Gor said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be at the top of Donald Trump’s list of leaders to meet at the G20 Summit in Florida in December.
Gor said Modi’s visit could include a bilateral meeting with Trump, whose leaders have not met bilaterally since tensions over reciprocal tariffs.
The ambassador said the United States and India were very close to finalising a trade deal within the next few months.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to return to India in October, while several US governors may also visit before year-end.
Gor said Quad cooperation remained central and that India, the United States, Japan and Australia were working toward another leaders’ summit.
