Jewellery Thefts: Maharashtra Gang Escapes as Gujarat Burglars Trapped
A group of thieves visited a jewellery shop in Maharashtra while pretending to be customers.
Four women wore burqas, and two men were also part of the group.
They distracted workers and secretly took a box containing gold jewellery.
The stolen jewellery weighed about 1.5 kilograms and was worth at least Rs 2 crore.
Police are studying security-camera footage to identify the suspects.
In a separate case in Gujarat, two men entered another jewellery shop to steal from it.
Local people closed the shop’s shutter, trapping the men inside.
The men called the police, who rescued and arrested them and found jewellery and burglary tools.
Six suspects, including four burqa-wearing women and two men, allegedly stole 1.5 kilograms of gold jewellery from a Maharashtra showroom.
The jewellery taken from Vishwas Jewellers in Shahganj was estimated to be worth at least Rs 2 crore.
Police said the Maharashtra gang entered at different times, surveyed the premises, distracted staff and used a concealed hand to remove a box.
In Gujarat, two men attempting to rob BJ Jewellers became trapped after locals lowered the shop’s shutter.
The trapped suspects called the 112 helpline, and police arrested them while recovering jewellery and burglary tools.
