The Supreme Court had said that authorities should not take action against young people who attended that protest.

Officials withdrew the notice the next day.

The Uttar Pradesh government then suspended the officer.

The state police chief also ordered an investigation.

The investigation will examine why the notice was sent.

It will also determine who was responsible.
