Madhya Pradesh to Establish Third Cheetah Habitat at Nauradehi
Madhya Pradesh is preparing a new place for cheetahs at Nauradehi.
A male cheetah called Tholo and a female called CCB-3 are expected to come from Kuno National Park on October 7.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is expected to release them into a protected enclosure.
The enclosure has five sections, strong fencing and monitoring throughout the day and night.
The pair will be the first of four cheetahs approved for relocation there.
CCB-3 is the sister of Radha, a cheetah released at Gandhi Sagar.
Nauradehi will be the state’s third major cheetah habitat, alongside Kuno and Gandhi Sagar.
Officials have also been preparing for a possible cheetah relocation to Gujarat’s Banni grasslands, but no release date has been set there.
The Cheetah Steering Committee approved relocating four cheetahs to Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, also known as Nauradehi.
The first pair—male Tholo and female CCB-3—is scheduled to arrive from Kuno National Park on October 7.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is expected to release the pair into a prepared soft-release enclosure.
The 439-hectare enclosure is divided into five sections and has power fencing and round-the-clock monitoring or tracking.
Nauradehi will become Madhya Pradesh’s third major cheetah habitat, after Kuno and Gandhi Sagar.
