Pirelli Calendar 2027: India’s First All-Indian Edition
The Pirelli Calendar is a famous yearly photo book that usually shows beautiful people and places.
In 2027, the whole book was made in India for the first time.
It was started by a famous photographer named Raghu Rai, but he died before finishing it.
His daughter, Avani Rai, finished the project by going back to the places her dad had taken pictures in.
She also worked with a Norwegian photographer, Sølve Sundsbø, who took new photos of actors and artists in Jaipur and Rajasthan.
The calendar has 20,000 copies, but they are only given to special guests and not sold in stores.
The 2027 Pirelli Calendar, titled "India, Beyond a Single Gaze," is the first edition shot entirely in India.
Legendary photographer Raghu Rai’s unfinished project was completed by his daughter Avani Rai, who returned to the original locations of his photos.
The calendar features Indian-origin celebrities and artists such as Padma Lakshmi, Freida Pinto, Anoushka Shankar, and Rupi Kaur.
Norwegian photographer Sølve Sundsbø also contributed images, capturing subjects at Jaipur’s Jaigarh Fort and Rajasthan’s Ajabgarh.
Only 20,000 copies are printed each year and are distributed as corporate gifts, not sold to the public.
