Bengaluru delivery boy assaulted by group; case registered
A delivery worker named Basavaraj lives in Bengaluru, a city in India, and brings packages to people's homes very quickly.
One morning, at about 4:40, he was riding home after making a delivery.
On the road, some girls started saying mean things to him.
He did not understand them, because he does not know Hindi, so he asked them to speak in Kannada, the local language.
Then the girls pulled his cap and tried to hurt him.
They called some boys to help them, and about four or five boys and girls hit him with their hands and a wooden stick.
He was hurt on his back, head, and nose, and he was bleeding.
His friend Ashok came to rescue him, but the group hit Ashok on the head too.
Basavaraj called the police, and they are now investigating who did this.
A 25-year-old delivery boy, Basavaraj, was allegedly abused and assaulted with a wooden stick by an unidentified group in Bengaluru early Saturday.
The incident occurred around 4:40 am as he travelled from 4th Phase in Yelahanka New Town towards Santhosh Nagar after delivering an order.
Basavaraj alleged that girls walking on the road abused him, and when he asked them to explain in Kannada as he did not know Hindi, they pulled his cap and tried to assault him.
The girls allegedly called about four to five boys, and the group hit him on the back, head and nose with their hands and a wooden stick, causing bleeding injuries.
His acquaintance Ashok was also hit on the head when he intervened, and a case has been registered at Yelahanka New Town Police Station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 118(1), 126(2), 351(2), 352 and 3(5).
