Telangana Plans Eight-lane Ratan Tata Radial Road
The state of Telangana in India is building a brand-new, very long highway.
The road is named after a famous Indian businessman, Ratan Tata.
It is about 41.5 kilometres long and 100 metres wide.
It will connect a busy ring road in Hyderabad to another planned ring road on the city's edge.
Right now the road will have six lanes, with room to add two more later.
In the middle, space is kept aside for future Metro trains to run.
Thousands of farmers are giving up their land to make room for the road.
Because they agreed willingly, the building work can go faster.
When it is finished, the road will help reduce traffic jams and help new offices, factories and businesses grow in the south of Hyderabad.
The 41.5-km Ratan Tata Greenfield Radial Road-1 will connect the Raviryala interchange at ORR Exit 13 with Amanagal on the proposed Regional Ring Road.
The 100-metre-wide access-controlled corridor is being developed as a six-lane road with provision for future expansion to eight lanes.
A 20-metre-wide central median is being reserved for future Metro and MMTS corridors to integrate mass public transport.
The estimated Rs 4,621 crore project is being executed in two phases by Rithwik Projects and L&T.
About 1,000 acres are being acquired across 14 villages in Ranga Reddy district, with voluntary farmer participation speeding up land acquisition.
