736 KGBVs Approved for Telangana, 26 in Medak: Joshi
The government of India helps states pay for schools through a program called Samagra Shiksha.
One kind of school it pays for is called a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, or KGBV for short.
The government approved 736 of these schools for the state of Telangana.
Twenty-six of those schools will be in a place called Medak district.
India's Education Minister, Pralhad Joshi, shared this news in Parliament.
He was answering a question from a lawmaker named M Raghunandan Rao.
Telangana also gives students free meals at school through a program called PM POSHAN.
The meals include fine rice, eggs three times a week, and a drink called Ragi Java three times a week.
Every eligible student gets one hot cooked meal on every school day.
The government also checks schools regularly to make sure the food is clean and healthy.
Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi said 736 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) have been approved for Telangana, including 26 in Medak district.
KGBVs are funded through the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Samagra Shiksha, with State and UT Annual Work Plans approved by the Project Approval Board (PAB).
Joshi made the statement in Lok Sabha in response to a question raised by BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao on fund utilisation under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Samagra Shiksha in Telangana.
Under PM POSHAN, one hot cooked meal is provided to all eligible children in Balvatika and Classes I to VIII in government and government-aided schools on all school working days.
Telangana supplies fine rice, eggs three times a week, and Ragi Java three times a week, along with regular quality, food safety, and hygiene inspections.
