Mamdani Launches Renew Crew to Quickly Repair New York Parks
A playground in Brooklyn was closed for almost two years.
Eight-year-old Maxime made a video asking Mayor Zohran Mamdani to help reopen it.
The playground reopened a few weeks later.
Mamdani has now created a team called the Renew Crew.
The team has 24 workers who can fix things such as playground equipment, benches, fences and sports courts.
They will work in parks across New York City.
The city hopes each repair will take three weeks or less.
The team’s first project is at Dry Harbor Playground in Queens.
People can report broken park facilities through the city’s 311 system.
