Gujarat Raises Overseas Study Income Ceiling to Rs 10 Lakh
Gujarat changed a rule for students who want to study in another country.
Earlier, their family could earn no more than Rs 6 lakh each year to qualify for the loan scheme.
Now, families earning up to Rs 10 lakh may qualify.
This means more middle-income students could apply for help.
The scheme offers loans of up to Rs 15 lakh for certain courses.
These include medical, postgraduate and equivalent courses after Class XII.
The money can help pay for tuition, housing and daily expenses.
Students must still follow the scheme’s other rules.
The government said the change should help deserving students pursue advanced education abroad.
Gujarat raised the annual family-income limit for unreserved students seeking overseas-study loans from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The revised scheme is implemented through the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economic Development Corporation.
Students with annual family incomes up to Rs 10 lakh may now apply, subject to other eligibility conditions.
