BHU surgeons remove jaw tumour, rebuild jaw from fibula bone
A 35-year-old man had a big growth inside his jaw bone for seven years.
This growth, called ameloblastoma, made his jaw and face look swollen and different.
Because of this, he felt shy and worried when talking to people.
He went to several hospitals, but the problem never went away.
Finally, doctors at Banaras Hindu University in India helped him.
They removed the sick part of his lower jaw.
Then they built a new jaw using a bone from his leg called the fibula.
They connected small blood vessels so the new jaw could get blood, just like a natural one.
The operation took about eight hours.
After surgery, his face looks normal again, he can walk without any weakness, and he feels much happier.
