India's IPO Boom Continues: 366 Issues Raise ₹1.9 Lakh Crore
A company that wants to grow can sell tiny pieces of itself to people, and that is called an IPO.
In India, 366 companies did this during the last financial year, called FY26.
Together, they raised almost ₹1.9 lakh crore, which is a gigantic amount of money.
Most of that money came from 109 bigger companies, which set a new record.
Smaller companies also got a chance to raise money through a special SME platform.
Investors were a little more careful this year.
They checked things like company value, profits, good management and future growth before buying.
Because of this, listing gains and interest from investors were lower than the year before.
A report by Grant Thornton Bharat says India's IPO market remains healthy and ready for the future.
India recorded 366 IPOs across mainboard and SME platforms in FY26, raising nearly ₹1.9 lakh crore, according to Grant Thornton Bharat.
Mainboard IPO activity hit an all-time high with 109 companies raising around ₹1.77 lakh crore.
The remaining issues came from the SME platform, giving smaller companies access to public funds.
Listing gains and oversubscription levels moderated from FY25 highs as investors became more selective on valuations, earnings, governance and growth.
The report says India's IPO pipeline remains healthy, supported by strong domestic participation, structural growth drivers and an expanding investor base.

“IPO success was no longer only about getting listed. Companies must also show that they can operate responsibly as listed businesses and maintain investor confidence after their debut.”
