Tempsens Sets 2026 Record as IPO Boom Peaks in August
Tempsens Instruments India sold shares to the public through an IPO.
Its shares started trading at almost twice the price investors paid.
This gave it the biggest first-day gain among major IPOs in 2026 so far.
August has been the strongest month for IPO gains this year.
Experts said the company’s business, connection to the growing power sector and reasonable pricing helped.
The wider IPO market has also been performing strongly.
However, some analysts worry that very large upcoming IPOs could use up investors’ money.
They say this could make the IPO boom slow down or correct in the next three to six months.
Tempsens Instruments India gained 95.55% on its listing day, the strongest mainboard IPO debut in CY26 so far.
The ₹650-crore issue listed at ₹580.70 on the National Stock Exchange against an offer price of ₹300.
August produced six of CY26’s top 10 mainboard IPO debutants, out of 17 issues listed during the month.
Analysts cited Tempsens’ fundamentals, exposure to the power sector and IPO pricing as reasons for its strong debut.
The BSE IPO index has risen 17% year-to-date, although analysts warn that major upcoming issues could drain liquidity and trigger a correction.

“We have almost reached the stage where liquidity is getting exhausted. There are no takers for many old small- and mid-cap stocks now. Big issues like NSE and Jio will suck out lakhs of crores in liquidity.”

“The fundamentals of the company are strong. It caters to the power sector, which has a lot of growth visibility, and the IPO was priced well. So a combination of these factors led to a bumper listing.”
