UNGA 2026 Theme Puts Trust, Reform and Inclusion First
The United Nations has chosen a theme about rebuilding trust and handling major changes.
Its leaders want countries to see that the UN can produce useful results, not just make statements.
They say this requires better cooperation, accountability and reform.
The world is changing because of technology, artificial intelligence, climate change and new security problems.
These changes can create opportunities, but they can also cause unfairness, surveillance and misuse.
The UN wants poorer countries and communities to benefit from new technology too.
Its plans cover peace, development, climate, human rights, technology and reform.
The goal is to make the United Nations work better for all its members.
The 81st United Nations General Assembly session is centered on “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”
General Assembly President Khalilur Rahman says restoring trust requires concrete results, reform, accountability and stronger cooperation among member states.
Managing transformation focuses on technological, economic, demographic, climate and security changes, including the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence.
The programme calls for inclusive digital governance, investment to close the digital divide and stronger international cooperation on AI governance.
Six pillars address peace, sustainable development, climate, human rights, innovation and inclusive reform of global governance.
