Mumbai Airport Sets January 2027 Date for Terminal 1 Demolition

Mumbai’s main airport has two terminals, called Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Terminal 1 is almost 80 years old and is being redeveloped.

The first step is to remove the north section of Terminal 1-B.

This demolition is scheduled to begin on January 15, 2027.

Before that, some international flights will move to Navi Mumbai International Airport.

Some flights from Terminal 1 will also move to Terminal 2.

Airlines will receive about three and a half months to adjust their operations.

Akasa Air has already moved its domestic flights from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2.

Airport officials want a joint group to help coordinate the changes and reduce passenger inconvenience.
